According to media reports, a woman in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district has been charged for allegedly leaving the body of a newborn baby in a stream.

The dead baby was found in a stream near Nabhan Mohalla in Rajouri. The authorities registered a case under Section 318 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with concealment of birth by secret disposal of a deceased body.

Investigations revealed that Parvaiz Akhtar, wife of Naheem Ahmed and resident of Niaka Panjgrian village in Rajouri, gave birth to the baby at GMC Associate Hospital in the area. Shockingly, on their way home from the hospital, the family allegedly threw the newborn baby’s body into the nearby stream.

The circumstances surrounding the baby’s tragic death are still under investigation and police are actively pursuing new leads in this case.
