#New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to decongest the land of Jahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in two districts of the state. He requested the Chief Minister to intervene personally to clear the school land of South 24 Parganas and Malda as soon as possible. The school in South 24 Parganas was approved in 2007. However, due to non-availability of a permanent building, studies are currently being conducted in a temporary building. Maldar school was approved in 2016. However, it could not be started due to lack of a temporary building.
The state government has to provide free land for Jahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. Temporary buildings should be provided for at least three years or until the permanent buildings are constructed. Also accommodation for at least 240 students has to be arranged. Accommodation should be provided to them free of charge. The district administration arranged a temporary building for the school in South 24 Parganas. However, in case of Maldah, no land or building was given by the district administration. As a result it could not be launched. Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to the Chief Minister for a quick settlement by personally intervening.
