Encroached parks will be opened
There is a Thane Municipal Park in Majivadi. Locals had brought to the notice of MLA Sanjay Kelkar that the park was closed on both sides and the contractor was plotting to break the wall on the third side and encroach on it. After the citizens entered this park, they faced opposition. When Kelkar discussed this matter with the ward committee and senior officials of the municipal corporation, it came out that they had no knowledge about this park and its encroachment. On Tuesday, Kelkar met Commissioner Sharma, during which he expressed displeasure over the encroachment in the park and the inaction of the administration. At this time, he demanded that action should be taken against the concerned officials and the contractor and the park should be opened. He also expressed fear that if the role of the administration continues in this manner, many parks and plots will pass away. Kelkar informed that the commissioner took a positive stand and gave instructions to the officials saying that the park will remain for the citizens only.
