Lula accused Israel of ‘killing innocent people’
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva accused Israel of “killing innocent people without any criteria” in the Gaza Strip and said its actions were as “serious” as those of the Palestinian militant group Hamas on October 7.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said in a statement on Monday, November 13, “The consequences and solution of the State of Israel after the terrorist act provoked by Hamas are as grave as Hamas’s. They are killing innocent people without any criteria.” said.
The leader of Latin America’s largest country also accused Israel of “throwing bombs at places where there are children and hospitals under the pretext that they are terrorists.”
Representatives of Brazil’s Jewish community condemned these statements as “erroneous,” “unfair” and “dangerous,” adding that they “put Israel and Hamas on the same level.”
Israel’s military operation in Gaza has killed 11,078 people, most of them civilians, according to figures released Friday (November 10) from the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Israel revised the official estimated death toll of the October 7 Hamas attack, reducing the number to around 1,200 people from the original estimate of “more than 1,400”.
