National School of Drama (NSD) Repertory Company, in collaboration with J&K Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages, is organizing Srinagar Theater Festival 2023 in Srinagar from 6 to 10 November 2023. First time in Srinagar city.
In June and early July, NSD Repertory Company organized Summer Theater Festival 2023 in different parts of Odisha and Delhi, reaching out to around 1,04,000 people through different sections of the festival. The company provides a professional platform for graduates of NSD and other theater schools as well as experienced theater practitioners in India.
Shri Rajesh Singh, Conductor, Repertory Company, National School of Drama, gave an overview of the 2023 Srinagar Theater Festival, which will start on 6 November 2023, early next week, while Dr. He said it will be decorated by Syed. Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary, J&K Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages will be the Guest of Honour, while Shri Bharat Singh Manhas and Shri Bashir Dada will be the Special Guests. The inaugural address on this occasion will be delivered by NSD Society President Shri Paresh Rawal and will be chaired by NSD Director Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy. Mr. M. Amin Bhat, Mr. Nisar Naseem, Mr. Mushtaque Ali Ahmad Khan and Mr. Ayash Arif will also attend the said event.
At the opening ceremony, the play “Laila Majunun”, written by Ismail Chunara and directed by the well-known personality of Indian Theatre, Padma Shri Prof Ram Gopal Bajaj, will be performed.
During the festival, various plays such as “Khoob Ladi Mardaani Subhadra Ki Zubani”, written by Asif Ali and directed by Bharti Sharma, and the musical “Maai Ri Main Ka Se Kahun”, based on the Dhuvidha story and directed by Vijaydan Detha, will be staged. Written by Ajay Kumar, written by Dharamvir Bharti and written by Padma Shri Prof. “Andha Yug” directed by Ram Gopal Bajaj and “Taj mahal Ka Tender” written by Ajay Shukla and directed by Chittaranjan Tripathy.
Shri Rajesh Singh ensured that the masses consider this festival as a unique and unforgettable opportunity and definitely attend the festival between 6-10 November 2023. The plays will be staged at Tagore Hall in Srinagar every day at 3 pm and will be available at the entrance. It will be free on a first come, first served basis.
