New Delhi: The domestic stock market closed higher for the sixth day in a row. The Sensex and Nifty closed at 50 record highs on Thursday. The Sensex crossed 61,000 for the first time on Thursday and the Nifty closed above 18,300 for the first time on strong buying in all sectors except auto. Heavyweight HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Shares rose 568.90 points to a new record high of 61,305.95 in the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty closed at 18,338.55 points, up 176.80 points.
Strong buying in smallcap stocks as well
Midcap and smallcap stocks, along with heavyweights, also saw strong buying. The BSE Midcap Index rose 0.54 per cent, while the BSE Smallcap Index rose 0.46 per cent.
Wipro has a market cap of Rs 4 lakh crore
On Thursday, Wipro Ltd’s market cap crossed Rs 4 lakh crore. This is because the IT company’s earnings were better than expected in the September quarter and its shares rebounded. Some brokers raised their target price for shares of the company after earnings. It is the third IT company to reach Rs 4 trillion in market capitalization and the 13th listed Indian company.
Investors’ wealth increased by Rs 2 lakh crore
Investors made bumper profits with a big rally in the market. His wealth increased by more than Rs 2 lakh crore. The market value of BSE-listed companies was Rs 2,70,73,296.03 crore on Wednesday. It had risen by Rs 2,03,408.83 crore to Rs 2,72,76,704.86 crore on Thursday. At the same time, the market value of BSE-listed companies increased by more than Rs 10 lakh crore in one week.
