RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Cherry Valentine, real name George Ward, has died aged just 28.
Ward, from Darlington, County Durham, was the first Romany queen to appear in the country. Drag race franchise when they competed as Cherry Valentine in the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
They were registered mental health nurses in 2015, before starting their career as gothic Cherry Valentine.

“One of the reasons I wanted to make this film is to show people that travelers are everywhere,” they said PinkNews at the moment.
“Gypsy people are everywhere. LGBT+ people are everywhere. We’re just part of society, and that’s okay. “
A statement from the Ward family said their deaths had come as a “heartbreaking” and “great shock”.
“It is with the greatest pain and sadness to inform you that our George – Cherry Valentine – has tragically passed away,” the family said.
“This is shocking to a lot of people and we understand that there is no easy way to go about this.
“As his family, we are still coming to terms with his death and our lives will never be the same.
‘We understand how much he was loved and how many lives he breathed and touched. All we ask is your patience and prayers during this time. We love you Georgie.”
Ward’s family confirmed his death on Sunday (September 18), but did not share any further details.
