In Bangladesh, Islamic extremists have desecrated and vandalized the idols of the goddess by attacking several pandals on the occasion of Durga Puja. In this regard, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Shubhendu Adhikari, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his intervention, raising the issue of atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. At the same time, on Thursday evening, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian High Commission is in touch with the officials there and the Government of Bangladesh is taking strict steps in this matter.

In his letter to the PM, BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari has said, “Respected Sir, I would like to draw your attention to the demolition of idols in pandals during Durga Puja in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s notorious radical forces have become accustomed to attacks on the Sanatani community there. This time pandals and several temples have been targeted by radical forces. The condition of Sanatani people living in Bangladesh is very pathetic. You are requested to take urgent and necessary steps to bring relief to the Sanatani community of Bangladesh.

In his tweet, the official wrote, “Demolition of temples and puja pandals in Comilla district, Cox’s Bazar and Noakhali in Bangladesh. The ‘conspiracy rumours’ spread through social media are disappointing. Deliberately destroying the idols of Maa Durga is a well-planned attack on the Sanatani Bengali community.”

Speaking on the matter, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “We have seen some reports of attacks on religious congregations in Bangladesh. We have learned that the Government of Bangladesh has reacted strongly to this. Durga Puja celebrations continue in Bangladesh. Our High Commission is in touch with the concerned authorities.”

May Maa Durga shower her blessings on all the Hindus of the world. will never forgive.”
