Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) detained five suspected terrorists linked to banned outfits during operations carried out in different cities of the province on Saturday. Information regarding the above has been shared by the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

It is also worth noting that the information shared by CTD on Saturday that all the terrorists have been arrested has carried out more than 179 intelligence-based operations in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi and foiled a major terrorist plot. It was stated that after the operation, 179 suspects were interrogated and 5 people alleged to be terrorists were captured.

According to the details shared by the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the five alleged terrorists belonged to banned organizations Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

In the statement shared by the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), it was stated that approximately 565 grams of explosives, two hand grenades, two handmade explosives, five detonators, 13 feet of safe fuse wire, 3.5 feet of ignition cable and five banned leaflets were found. Rs 5,520 were seized along with 36 recoveries from the hands of suspected terrorists.

In the statement, CTD expressed allegations that suspected terrorists “were planning to commit sabotage throughout the province and wanted to target important facilities.” He added that the police registered five cases against them and shifted them to an “unknown location”.

According to the details, in the statement shared by the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), it was stated that “We are working for a safer place in Punjab and the authorities are determined to put anti-state elements behind bars.”

In the statement, it was stated that 769 screening operations were carried out in various regions of the province this week and 82 suspects were arrested.

In August, 13 terrorists, “including important ISIS commanders,” were arrested by the CTD.
