Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh’s troubles are increasing. The Mumbai Crime Branch has recorded on camera the statements of 12 eyewitnesses in one of the recovery charges against them. According to media reports, this suggests that Sachin Waje, the dismissed Assistant Police Inspector of Mumbai Police, used to collect extortion for them only.
According to a Mid-Day report, these eyewitnesses have said in their statement that they had given ‘protection money’ to Waje. The money allegedly went to Parmeebar Singh, whom Waje called ‘No 1’.
The crime branch had summoned Singh in this case on October 12, but he did not appear. Waje had told the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the money laundering case against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, that he used ‘number 1’ for Deshmukh. But, the Mumbai Crime Branch claims that ‘Number 1’ was Singh. It is noteworthy that after being discharged from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner, Parambir Singh had alleged that Deshmukh had given a target of recovery to Waje.
According to sources, eyewitnesses have told the crime branch that Waje used to call Singh ‘number 1’ and used to charge money for him. The case against Singh, Waje and others was registered by builder Bimal Agarwal at Goregaon police station in August this year. Agarwal had alleged that Rs 9 lakh was recovered for not raiding two bars and one restaurant running in his partnership. It was also said that Waje had also bought two flip mobile phones worth Rs 2 lakh 92 thousand from him. This phone has been seized by the crime branch.
Aggarwal had told that because the color of the mobile is silver, Waje did not like it and asked for another color mobile phone. He was arrested by the NIA in the Mansukh Hiren murder and Antilia case till the time the shopkeeper asked for another color phone. In support of his allegations, Agarwal has also produced some audio clips which are being probed. It has also been said in this FIR that in this illegal extortion of Sachin Waje, 75% share belonged to Parambir Singh.
According to the complainant Bimal Aggarwal, the accused Sachin Vaze used the code word for extortion by making WhatsApp calls. Agarwal has recorded these calls made on WhatsApp. According to Crime Branch Unit-11, recording is the mainstay of preliminary investigation.
According to the latest information, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch wants the transit remand of Sachin Vaze in this case. Presently, Sachin Waje is in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). At the same time, Parambir Singh was also feared to leave the country in the past. Media reports said that he was in Russia. Earlier, similar reports had come about former state home minister Anil Deshmukh. Media reports had suggested that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a lookout notice against Deshmukh, who has ignored several summons in the money laundering case.
