Mumbai: A 41-year-old man died in an accident on the Western Express Highway near Ban Dongari bus stand.

BMC employee Sanjay Rathod was riding his motorcycle towards north Mumbai when a truck hit him. The incident led to Rathod’s death and led to a case being registered against the truck driver under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at Samata Nagar police station. The police immediately detained the truck driver.

According to the FIR, on November 20 at 3.30 pm, Rathod, a resident of Gorai-2, Borivali (West), was traveling towards North Mumbai on his Honda motorcycle. When he reached Ban Dongari bus stop near Akurli Metro Station, a truck hit his bike from behind. The impact caused Rathod to fall onto the road and the front wheel of the truck passed over his lower body, causing serious bleeding. Traffic officials Durgaprasad Bharati and Anil Pal immediately took Rathod to Dr. Kandivali East. They took him to Shatabdi Hospital, Babasaheb Hospital. After examination, the doctor found Rathod dead.

Bharati and Pal informed the police and Rathod’s brother about the incident. The police arrived at the scene in a short time and detained the truck driver. After the necessary autopsy, the police handed over Rathod’s body to his family. The truck driver was identified as Surendra Kumar Yadav (35) from Valsad, Gujarat.
