On November 26, on the completion of one year of the farmers’ movement, preparations have been made to mobilize a large number of farmers on the Tikri border. On this day, it has been decided to hold a big mahapanchayat in 7 acres on behalf of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta in Sector-13, some distance from the Tikri border. SKM placed 6 demands in front of the PM

The United Kisan Morcha (SKM), a common platform of farmers’ organizations currently protesting, wrote to the Prime Minister on Sunday, demanding the resumption of talks on 6 demands of farmers, including legal guarantee for the purchase of agricultural produce at MSP. These demands include the removal and arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri cases, withdrawal of the cases registered against the farmers and construction of a memorial in memory of the farmers killed during the protest.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait tweeted that the protest is not over yet. We will have a meeting on November 27 in which we will take a further decision. Modi ji had said that farmers’ income will double from January 1, so we want to ask how it will happen. The victory of the farmers will be ensured when they get the right price for their produce. Another farmer leader, Kavita Kuruganti, said the cabinet’s approval was a logical step. It has no significance as it has already been announced on 19th November. The withdrawal of these bills is a welcome development but it is only the first victory of the protesting farmers. We will wait for further action to be taken on other demands.
