Islam Abad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s proposal to hold phased local body elections.

The provincial government set a date for local elections in December and said it wanted to hold Neighborhood and Welch council elections in December, with a run-off in May.

Provincial Food Minister Atif Khan represented the provincial government in the Election Commission. The government also proposed Tehsil Council elections along with Neighborhood and Village Councils, but the Election Commission rejected them.
