New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering holding an auction of players for IPL 2023 in mid-December this year. According to sources, this auction can be held on December 16. An initial program has been discussed with the franchisees.
It is believed that this time there will be a small auction but the venue for this has not been decided yet. The dates for the next edition of the IPL are also not known but it is believed to start in the last week of March in the old format. The salary purse for the auction will be Rs 95 crore, which is Rs five crore more than last year. If the franchise releases players or takes them from another team it will make a difference to the purse. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Chennai Super Kings have not been going well since IPL 2022, so there is a lot of talk about whether the team could release him or trade him with another team. According to the reports of the last few days, there may be a trade between Chennai and Gujarat regarding Jadeja and Shubman Gill. However, both the teams have rejected it. Other teams have also expressed interest in signing Jadeja, including Delhi Capitals, but CSK management says they have no plans to part ways with Jadeja.
