According to sources, the US authorities had given permission to the Afghan authorities to fly in the name of evacuation of US citizens. An empty PIA plane returned to Islamabad due to a ban on the evacuation of Afghan nationals.

Sources said that the PIA flight was to transport US facilitators from Kabul to Qatar’s Al-Hadid Air Base, and US citizens were to be flown from Qatar’s Al-Hadid Air Base to return to Islamabad empty-handed. The PIA’s charter flight was booked on October 4, but a significant amount of money was spent on the empty flight.
