Karachi: The dollar continued to appreciate in both the foreign exchange markets on Thursday on sustained demand from the import sector and pressure from external payments.

As a result of this flight, the interbank rate of the dollar closed at a new high of Rs 171.19 with a further increase of 7 paise, while in the open currency market, the value of the dollar rose by 10 paise to close at Rs 172.
