ISLAMABAD(ONLINE): While allowing former minister Fawad Chaudhry to meet his lawyers and family members, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed that facilities be provided to the petitioner as per the jail manual.
Fawad Chaudhry’s petition seeking accommodation in prison and allowing him to meet his lawyers and family members came up for hearing before a single IHC bench headed by Justice Arbab Tahir on Monday.
The lawyer of Fawad Chaudhry’s brother, Faisal Chaudhry, made a defense. Deputy Inspector Adiala Jail appeared in court. DSP Adiala told the court that Fawad Chaudhry was kept in security ward.
Thereupon, Faisal Chaudhry said that the law includes the issue of talking to children. Put this into practice as required by law. Faisal Chaudhry told the court that our conversation was noted and they allowed us to meet Fawad Chaudhry only on Friday.
The court explained the reason for this only on Friday. Give them another day to meet. I command. The court asked the investigating officer what threats Fawad Chaudhry had made. What kind of thing is FIR?
Investigating officer said FIR No. 502 was lodged against Fawad Chaudhry. On a request regarding prison facilities, the court stated that there were clear siting orders for the judge to be there in connection with prison facilities and meetings with lawyers. If these are not implemented, submit an objection petition. We will make a detailed decision about this.
The court ordered former minister Fawad Chaudhry to be provided with convenience in prison and allowed him to meet with his lawyers and family members.
The court also ordered to provide medical facilities as per the prison manual.
