The Congress MP alleged that PM Modi, as Gujarat chief minister, has consistently opposed the National Food Security Act (NFSA), which was passed by Parliament in September 2013 under the Congress-led UPA government.
Ramesh said PMGKY is nothing but NFSA which currently covers 80 crore Indians. “Of course, this is not the only example of a U-turn he has made. He also had to change his position on MGNREGA, which saved lives during the pandemic.”
Addressing an election rally in Durg in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Saturday, the prime minister had said that the government will extend the free ration card scheme covering 80 crore poor people for five years.
