The Excise Department busted the big business of playing with the lives of people by selling spurious liquor in the city on Wednesday night. Fake liquor was being sold as real at two licensed shops in the city. The Excise Department raided two shops and recovered ten boxes of spurious liquor while taking joint action with the Prevention Squad. On the apprehension of counterfeit from both the shops, the liquor was confiscated by filling two pickups.

Fake liquor was being sold at two licensed shops in the city as real. The Excise Department raided two shops and recovered ten boxes of spurious liquor while taking joint action with the Prevention Squad. On the apprehension of counterfeit from both the shops, the liquor was confiscated by filling two pickups. Both the shops were sealed. Action is being taken to revoke his license. Due to the knowledge of the action, two gangsters involved in the business of making spurious liquor escaped. Raids were being conducted throughout the night in search of him. The action stirred up the liquor traders. Many people involved in this business went underground.

District Excise Officer Lokesh Joshi had received information from the informer that spurious liquor was being sold in some shops of the city. The Excise Department got the liquor bottles ordered from many shops and investigated them for proof. Liquor shop of licensee Nikhil Mundra at PNT crossroads on Pur Road in Ward 12 and licensee Abhishek Patwa near Sukhadia circle from Ward 61 to 65 was raided. Here ten boxes of two brands of English liquor were recovered. The liquor kept in both the shops was confiscated after filling it in two pickups on the suspicion of counterfeit. Both the shops have been sealed. A case has been registered against both the licensees. The process of canceling the license of the shops is going on. This spurious liquor was prepared by Raghuveer Meena and Lekhraj Singh, residents of Deoli. They were later supplied to the shops. Both of them absconded after realizing the action.
