Ambikapur. The Surguja Police has launched a campaign against drugs these days. For the last 2 days, continuous action is being taken against drugs. On Thursday, the Kotwali police seized 210 grams of brown sugar. In this case, the police have arrested an inter-state supplier and a local smuggler.
The value of seized brown sugar is said to be Rs 21 lakh. The police took action against both the accused and sent them to jail. A day ago, the Surguja police arrested 4 people, including 2 women, with brown sugar and heroin worth one crore 11 lakhs.
Disclosing the matter in a press conference at the Police Co-ordination Center on Thursday, Surguja SP Amit Tukaram Kamble said that continuous action is being taken against drugs in the district. Nava Bihaan drug de-addiction campaign is being run under the direction of IG Ajay Kumar Yadav.
Under the campaign, drug addicts and drug dealers are constantly being nabbed. In this sequence, the Kotwali police got information from the informer on October 14 that a youth near Shankar Ghat Turning Point Dhaba was bringing brown sugar from Garhwa Jharkhand.

He is going to supply brown sugar to Prakash Gupta father Shivnarayan Gupta, resident of Ambikapur Khalpara. On receiving the information, the police team led by Kotwali in-charge Rahul Tiwari reached the spot and laid siege.
The police team arrested the supplier Sunil Prasad’s father, who came from Garhwa, Jharkhand. Om Prakash Ram age 32 years, seized 200 grams of brown sugar from the possession of Gadhdevi Mohalla Garhwa resident and 10 grams of brown sugar from the possession of buyer Prakash Gupta age 35 years.
The police arrested both the accused and took action under the 21C NDPS Act and presented them in the court. From there he was sent to jail. The value of the seized brown sugar is said to be Rs 21 lakh.
Assistant sub-inspectors Sarfaraz Firdausi, Vinay Singh, Pramod Pandey, constable Jaideep Singh, Vimal Kumar, Rajat Tirkey, Shivkumar Rajwade were involved in the action. ASP Vivek Shukla, DSP SS Paikra were present during the correspondence.

SP Amit Tukaram Kamble Said that accused Sunil Prasad is habitual drug dealer. He is involved in illegal drug trade for the last 10 years. He is also in touch with Geeta Soni, a supplier of brown sugar sent on Wednesday.
He used to take brown sugar from Geeta Soni and supply it to the surrounding areas of Garhwa and Ambikapur. Accused Sunil has been caught for the first time by siege very actively.
