A task force has been constituted for ‘One Country, One Law’ in Sri Lanka. The great responsibility of its leadership has been given to Galagodath Gyansara. He has been appointed by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Earlier, he has been accused of being anti-Muslim. Several cases were also registered against him for inciting violence against Muslims. Now he has been appointed as the head of the committee for equality law for all in Sri Lanka. He comes from Sinhala community.

His organization was accused of inciting violence against Muslims in Sri Lanka in 2013. Galagodath Gyansara has been made the head of the 13-member committee. These committees will prepare the draft for ‘One Country, One Law’. On the basis of this draft, the Government of Sri Lanka will proceed in this matter. This is the same slogan, on which Gotabhaya Rajapaksa contested the election in 2019 and got the support of a large number of Buddhist citizens. The formation of this committee has been announced through a gadget.

Four representatives of the Muslim community have also been included in this task force, but no person from the minority Tamil community is included in it. This notification was issued on Tuesday (October 26, 2021). The committee will submit a report to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa every month. The committee will submit the final report to the government by February 28, 2022. The concept of ‘One Country, One Law’ has been envisaged to reduce Islamic fundamentalism. With this, the ruling party there will also win the confidence of the Sinhala majority.

Sentiments against Muslim fundamentalism in Sri Lanka intensified after the 2019 Easter bombings. 270 people were killed in this bomb blast. The number of injured in the incident that took place on April 21, 2019 was also more than 500. The staunch Buddhist monk Galagodatha runs an organization called Gyansara Bodu Bala Sena (BBS). In Hindi it can be called ‘Buddhist Shakti Bal’. He has also been accused of making provocative statements many times. He was also jailed for a criminal intimidation case.
